Your rental agreement and house rules may set quiet periods, often overnight and on Sundays. Local rules vary, so read the notice in your entrance and the Hausordnung rather than relying on a universal timetable.
Shared space is part of the agreement
Stairwells and cellar corridors may need to remain clear for fire safety. Recycling bins have local categories, and glass containers elsewhere in the neighbourhood often have posted disposal hours. Photograph labels for your own reference, not residents.
If you plan a gathering, a brief note to immediate neighbours can reduce uncertainty. Give a date, an expected finishing time, and a way to contact you. This courtesy is not permission to ignore the building rules.
When a neighbour raises a concern, start with the specific event: “Was the washing machine audible after ten?” A precise question is easier to solve than a debate about who is considerate.
